WAKA KOPAPA RACING
Welcome to the 2017 Turangawaewae Regatta.
Waka Kopapa racing has always played an important part of the regatta. It's purpose is simply to preserve the knowledge and interest in maori aquatic sports and this sport is not for the faint hearted!
Over the years we have seen wonderful support from primary and secondary schools from all over the north island come and compete in the waka kopapa racing and we work extremely hard to ensure that new comers to the sport are well looked after.
In 2017 waka kopapa racing for schools will be split over two days. Primary and intermediate racing will be on Wednesday 15 March 2017 with racing for secondary schools occuring on Thursday 16 March 2017.
